Letter From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Frontier Middle School on behalf of the Administration, Teachers and Classified Staff that help make this building a great place for your children to learn and grow.  I look forward to working with your children and trying to get to know each kid personally over their three years here at FMS.

I encourage you as parents to stay involved in your child’s education by asking your student what is going on in their school day, checking our Skyward Family Access page to see how your child is doing in class, encourage them to get involved in all the clubs and activities offered at FMS, and communicating with his/her teachers to make sure that everyone understands the expectations for educating OUR kids.

Please contact us at the school if we can help facilitate things in any way.  Have a great year because know that we are going to have one here at Frontier!

Chris Lupo
Principal, Frontier Middle School

Online Testing Demos for New MSP Tests Now Available

In the spring 2010, the new Measurements of Student Progress (MSP) tests will replace the existing WASL tests.  In the first year part of the test will be offered online with the online amount increased each year (see online rollout schedule). OSPI is now offering online state testing demos to allow you the opportunity to see what the new tests might look like. The demos are available at www.WAtesting.com/online. You can learn about changes to the test in Science, Math, and Reading, view the Teacher's Toolkit, or view sample questions.

Computerized Assessments and Learning (CAL), the state’s online testing provider, has also developed student demos that demonstrate how the software is used for testing.

To learn what is required for your student to graduate in in 2010, visit the Class of 2010 Toolkit.

For questions about online state testing, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions site or email Online.Assessments@k12.wa.us.

Warriors 21 sponsors a free Personal Money Management Class for parents.  See After School Programs page for more information.

Builders Club hosts Bark for Life

Builders Club is hosting their "first annual" Bark for Life! This is a fundraising event that will honor the care giving qualities of our canine "Best friends". Monies raised will be included in Frontier Middle School's Builders Club American Cancer Society Relay for Life event total.

Bark for Life presents an opportunity for people and their canine companions to contribute to cancer cures by joining the American Cancer Society as relay participants and/or fundraisers. They will help celebrate cancer survivorship, honor people and pets lost to cancer and support cancer research, education and awareness.

Bark for Life is an irresistible way to take a bite out of cancer, smile, and make new friends - canine and human. Contact Sherri Osborne at 766-2662 ext 2236 if you would like to volunteer or need a registration form.  Registration forms can also be downloaded by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

Calendars will be made and sold featuring the top 12 fund raising dogs! Mark May 15th on your calendar. This will be an event you won't want to miss!
